Sous Chef - Award-winning 5 wedding and events venue We are looking for an experienced and passionate Sous Chef to assist the Head Chef with culinary operations at a prestigious 5 wedding and events venue close to the close to the market town of Whitchurch on the Welsh/Shropshire/ Cheshire border. A winner of numerous awards, they operate primarily for weddings, private parties and company retreats, and have recently developed a reputation for in-house events - supper clubs, pop up restaurants, afternoon teas and other one off culinary events. Working alongside an award-winning Head Chef, you will help manage a small team in a brand-new kitchen, contribute to the design of bespoke menus, deliver amazing tastings and always strive to exceed expectations. You will be passionate about fresh, seasonal, local ingredients and showcase the same degree of excellence for every dish whether it is beautifully simple or highly complex. You must have a good understanding of GP and wastage, stock control, ordering in the Head Chefs absence and an ability to develop and train new team members. You will have good basic computer skills, able to use word, excel and email, and experience with Shield/online Health & Safety is preferred. You will be passionate about cooking, have a keen interest in food and event trends, a broad culinary palette, and a constant desire to learn more. Experience gained in a minimum 3 Rosette kitchen would be advantageous. Further Details: This is a permanent, full time position Hours of work - 5 days per week as required 28 days annual leave A salary of £30,000 - £35,000 depending on experience Happy to work as part of a small and highly motivated team with a family feel Assist the Head Chef with spec and cost sheets HACCP - Ensure 5 star Food Hygiene rating is maintained at all times Be responsible for the team and ensure that the standards and records exceed expectation Plan, prepare and deliver the highest possible standard for each event Suggest and discuss new seasonal and innovative ideas with the Head Chef If you are a highly organised and experienced Sous Chef with a passion for the highest culinary standards please apply, we d like to hear from you
