An exciting opportunity has arisen at a mainstream primary school in Oldham (OL9) to work one-to-one with a child in Year 2 with a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder. St. Herbert s are looking to appoint a teaching assistant to start on as soon as possible to support the child s additional needs. Full time position Immediate start Pay from £75-£85 per day Long-term role until the end of the year The Role Working within the dedicated and supportive Key Stage 1 department, the successful candidate will work under the direction of the class teacher to support the learning of a young, Year 2 girl to meet the targets as outlined in her EHCP. The role will involve supporting the child to access the Early years curriculum as they are working below the Year 2 curriculum. The role will involve a mixture of class based differentiated learning alongside nurture support in the school s dedicated sensory room. The child has a development delay and as such may require personal care. The Teaching Assistant The required individual will be resilient and consistent in their approach, they will be able to think on their feet when dealing with tricky scenarios. Being able to quickly develop strong relationships both with the child and with other staff will be essential in making a success of this role. Previous experience supporting pupils with special educational needs is essential. The school are looking for any individual who has experience in working in a one-to-one setting such as mainstream schools, specialist schools, working in the community setting as a support worker, care worker or youth worker. Candidates who have child residential care experience will similarly flourish in the role. The School The school is a large school with more than 300 children on roll split into single form and mixed form year groups.
