Lead Psychologist Atherton (M46) Private Hospital Up to £63,000 + benefits (Full time Permanent) An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Lead Psychologist to head the psychology service. The successful candidate would be working in a hospital which is a 100 bed setting and is a diverse inpatient secure hospital setting that has several services including Medium Secure wards; Low Secure wards including a Learning Disability provision; Locked Rehabilitation and a PICU ward; for adult males with complex mental health needs and personality difficulties. Duties will include: The management of a small team of Psychologists and Psychological Assistants. Attendance and contribution to Clinical Leads and Hospital Governance Meetings. Carrying a service users' caseload, including assessing service users with complex needs, and designing and delivering specialist psychological treatment within mental health care services. Delivery and oversight of individual and group interventions, diagnostic and cognitive assessments, MDT working, training, risk assessment and facilitating staff reflective practice sessions. Participating fully with the multidisciplinary team and ensuring that the service user is fully engaged in their care pathway. Supporting clinical team working, including both direct interventions and the delivery of staff training programmes. Supporting the clinical team and area of service in developing new initiatives and ways of working. Applicants will have: To be registered with the HCPC as a Practitioner Psychologist and Charterable status with the British Psychological Society. Competence in assessing, formulating and working therapeutically with service users Ability to identify and proactively resolve problems and challenges within the service. To have competency in supervising Psychologists, Forensic Psychologists In Training and Psychological Assistants ensuring that they are meeting professional practice expectations and the BPS/HCPC code of ethics. Ability to supervise non-psychology colleagues in areas of psychological application Knowledge and understanding of working with Trauma. Experience of working with clients with complex needs that are relevant to the population in the service area. Competency in psychological assessments and formulation skills and an aptitude for learning new assessment methods. Competency in cognitive functioning/management tools and formulation. Experience in using a range of therapeutic interventions to address a range of clinical and/or forensic issues.
