Position Title: IT Technician Location: Greenheys Adult Learning Centre, Upper Lloyd Street Salary Range: Grade 5 £23,023 to £25,927 (Bar at £24,920) per annum Working Hours: Monday - Friday 8:30 - 4pmContract Type: Full Time Permanent Application Deadline: 25th September 2022Job Reference: MCC(phone number removed)/GD About the service: Manchester Adult Education Service (MAES) is part of the Growth and Neighbourhoods Directorate of Manchester City Council and works with stakeholders and partners across the education, skills and business sectors, in order to further improve educational outcomes, reduce dependency and better connect individuals and neighbourhoods to the employment opportunities being created. MAES expertise and niche is in delivering first step Adult Education which includes formal qualification courses (Adult skills) and non-qualification courses (Community learning) for adults aged 19+ (with the largest cohort aged 25-50). About the role: The enthusiastic postholder will play an important role in MAES IT team and use their initiative to respond to IT support requirements of staff across the MAES sites made through the IT Helpdesk, they will also set up and maintain, manage and distribute PCs, Chromebooks and other equipment on the MAES network. The postholder will operate with a degree of autonomy, managing their workload and taking responsibility but also liaising with colleagues as necessary. About the candidate: Working in an often-unpredictable environment the postholder will be expected to problem solve and develop solutions for unanticipated problems or issues, discuss with colleagues and to manage often competing demands including: Diagnosing and recommending fixes/actions needed for PCs, Chromebooks, and other equipment, including referring to other departments eg MCC ICT where appropriate.
