Failure Analysis Engineer required for a leading global manufacturing company who have five decades experiences within their niche field. This role is varied and involves both bench test using electronic test equipment and custom software and physical failure analysis. You will be involved in developing electronic and physical failure analysis techniques. The role involves interaction with internal departments at a technical level, suppliers and external labs and customers.
The responsibilities of this role include identifying the root cause of failure, testing, and diagnosing products, monitoring product behaviour, writing, and sharing reports, drawing conclusions on occurring failures and making recommendations. You will be a key participant in the evaluation of the electrical and mechanical characteristics of systems and/or integrated circuits, components, sub-components, and systems to determine the cause of failure, including the verification of analog and digital performance. You will be responsible for organising the analysing of failure reports and recommends corrective action. Developing methods, processes, procedures, and equipment that will improve the failure analysis process and reduce failures.
This role would suit a failure analysis engineer that has experience with micro-electronics and knowledge of automotive quality standards. You must be able to read blueprints, specifications and engineering changes and be proficient in Microsoft Office programs. Must be a team player able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to handle multiple competing tasks and demands.
The role involves the use of equipment for electrical measurement of ASIC devices such as oscilloscopes, signal generators and spectrum analysers and the use and maintenance of failure analysis tools for inspection such as microscopes, SEM and EDX and de-processing of devices. Applicants that have knowledge of laboratory work and the use of microscopes and chemical safety and familiarity with failure analysis methodology such as 8D problem solving will have a considerable advantage.
Evaluating the electrical and mechanical characteristics of systems and/or integrated circuits, components, sub-components, and systems to determine the cause of failure, including the verification of analog and digital performance
Maintain, review and update process documentation on a regular basis and maintain daily productivity / workflow reports
Developing electronic and physical failure analysis techniques
Interaction with internal departments at a technical level, suppliers and external labs and customers
Ability to use bench test equipment (power supplies, oscilloscopes, spectrum analysers) and familiarity with programming languages involved in testing and data analysis (particularly python and LabVIEW)
Strong interpersonal & collaboration skills to work effectively with all levels of the organization including suppliers and/or external customers
Ability to read blueprints, specifications, and engineering changes
