EE&S Senior Quality Engineer An amazing opportunity has come up for a contract E&ES Senior Quality Engineer to join one of the largest UK Defence companies working on some exciting projects, on an initial 6-month contract basis, plus extensions. The Role: E&ES Senior Quality Engineer Contract: 6-months initially plus extensions Rate: £33.23 per hour umbrella IR35 status: Inside IR35. Location: Portsmouth, hybrid working THE ROLE: A fully competent engineer responsible for providing Quality support to the local business areas to ensure the business remains compliant to the local management system. Capable of managing own tasks, delivering results, anticipating and escalating problem areas to providing informal guidance to more junior members of the department within your capability and skill base. Providing guidance and support to operators / staff conducting Quality related roles impacting on product and services. Core Duties (Key Day to Day Tasks, ideally 10 - 12 points) 1. Provide full and effective support, in assigned areas of Quality activity to the business and projects i.e. audits, process management, coaching & training 2. Support or act as lead auditor in the planning, conducting and reporting of system, process and compliance audits 3. Use your knowledge and experience to support investigations 4. Assist and undertake process reviews 5. Facilitate and liaise with key stakeholders and process owners in non-conformance resolution and corrective actions 6. Analysis of data, identify themes and recommend corrective actions 7. Deputise for your immediate management as and when required 8. Manage and take responsibility for routine Quality activities without immediate supervision 9. Manage and take responsibility for non-routine Quality activities with some supervision 10. Able to access, have clear understanding of and apply the Management System documentation 11. Support certification activity Functional Knowledge (Requirements for knowledge of functional work and activities) Is degree qualified in an appropriate technical discipline or equivalent experience Be a quality professional, at least lead auditor status or equivalent experience Have a fully developed working knowledge of Quality Planning and Assurance systems; policies, processes, procedures and records Have a fully developed working knowledge of marine and/or defence industry or other highly regulated industry Experience of ISO 9001/ EN9100 standards Have experience to establish and implement business processes (this would involve helping to write processes for a Function or Project - test, validate and consider implications) Have knowledge of and experience of product safety and integrity Have a good level of experience in quality or related disciplines Be experienced in coordinating/ faciltiating and influencing large teams for Continuous Improvement Broad understanding of all Quality disciplines Business Expertise (Requirements of the position for knowledge and expertise about the business rather than the technical expertise) Practical understanding of the partnering between Government and private sector Broad understanding of matrix management in a complex operational environment Understand how areas across Maritime Services integrate to achieve overall goals of the Function Sound understanding of the defence maritime industry Leadership (Requirements of the position for providing leadership and guidance to others) Responsible for leading on SHE and responsible business behaviours Responsible for supporting establishing and maintaining Quality Assurance strategy and objectives Responsible for leading Quality Assurance Programmes / Projects Conducting internal and supplier audits Responsible for leading the verification of all non-conformances Responsible for support to winning new business Responsible for supporting the Head of Quality / Quality Lead in addressing unplanned tasking Responsible for supporting the functional development of Quality Responsible for providing supervision to graduates on rotation through Quality roles.
